Dressing your kids for the snow!

Here in NZ we’ve got plenty of opportunities to get our kids out playing in the snow over winter.

From the North Island’s Central Plateau to the Southern Alps…to Snowplanet in Silverdale?!…kids just love throwing snowballs, making snow angels, sledding, skiing, snowboarding…AS LONG AS THEY ARE WARM AND DRY!

Otherwise you will know all about it.

Nate was lucky enough to receive some cooooool new ski gears from kiwi company Therm Outdoor and I was super impressed with them – here’s why:

  • your kid is much less likely to get cold, wet snow down their pants if they’re overalls!
  • very clever zip attachment on the overalls allows toilet access without taking EVERYTHING off
  • elasticated foot gusset stops snow going up the legs
  • extra durable reinforced hemlines at the end of each leg
  • reflective logo on the knee
  • easily accessible velcro pocket on one mid leg
  • strong, easily adjustable, comfy elasticated shoulder straps
  • warmly insulated
  • reinforced stitching around the butt
  • interior name tag

  • fantastic bright colour design to keep your kid safer on the mountain – and easier to find!
  • built in shaped hood
  • HEAPS of pockets – fleecy wam ones for hands, domed ones, secret zip pocket on the arm…
  • drawcord for adjustable hemline
  • reflective logos front and back, and reflective strip down the front
  • strong, durable, water resistant fabric
  • interior name tag
  • lower hemline around the back – this will keep your child warmer on the chairlift in the wind!
  • comfy hand gussets with thumbholes to stop sleeves riding up
  • draft stopper closure: zip AND velcro AND domes!
  • warmly insulated

I also love that the gear we were sent is totally unisex – it would definitely last you through a few children if you wanted to share it around the family. It seems such great quality that you’d get tons of wear out of it for seasons.

I’d layer up with merino long johns, thermal top and jumper on a cool day – or just a long sleeve t-shirt underneath on a warm spring day. Add your gloves and hat and you’re ready for action!
